This year will mark a culmination of a decade's work -- and bet the single largest step in TIFF's history since its founding 35 years ago. When we move into TIFF Bell Lightbox, our new permanent home this September, the impact and excitement of the ten-day festival will now extend to programming activities every day of the year.

Piers Handling,
Director & CEO

From the efficiency and dedication of our staff and volunteers to our contribution to the culture and economy of the city of Toronto, TIFF has once again secured its reputation as a leader in the national and international film community.

We aspire to be the global centre for film excellence. Bell Lightbox will help us achieve this goal. It will be filled with film programming that stretches and challenges the imagination. We will provide opportunities for you to explore your passions, to go deeper and to achieve a greater understanding about film, one of the most powerful forms of communication.

This has been a year of great accomplishments for the Toronto International Film Festival Group (TIFFG). A groundbreaking ceremony launched the excavation and construction of Bell Lightbox, bringing us closer to our dream of establishing TIFFG and Toronto as landmark destinations for the art of film and the moving image.

Paul Atkinson,
Chair, Board of Directors

We continue pursuing ideals that value and encourage learning, discovery and creative expression. Bringing together Canadian and international filmmakers, industry professionals, academics and the public to explore the power of the moving image has been our success for more than three decades. We look forward to Bell Lightbox at Reitman Square, our year-round centre, which will engage our city, our country and the world in the very best of Canadian and international film.

The evolution of TIFFG from a small "Festival of Festivals" to what it is today is remarkable. When I first joined the Board in 1990, the organization generated revenues of $3.7 million. Since that time, TIFFG has increased its revenues to $17.7 million and now services almost nine hundred thousand admissions. This represents tremendous growth for any type of organization, but for a not-for-profit, charitable organization it is nothing short of outstanding.

Allen Karp,
Chair

From the thousands of screening and numerous guest appearances we offer the public, to the educational and mentoring opportunities we provide for up-and-coming Canadian talent, the Group is committed to promoting film and the moving image to local, national and international audiences. Bringing the artist to the public, creating dialogue about the moving image and showcasing film as a tool to understand the world we live in is what makes TIFFG's programming unique.

Our mission is to transform the way people see the world. Film is one of the most pervasive and powerful tools of mass communication ever invented. As our society increasingly shifts from a word-based to an image-based culture, the Toronto International Film Festival Group is at the centre of this new cultural understanding.
