official description

Quentin Tarantino's brazenly postmodern gun-and-gabfest was the first smash hit American "indie" film and exerted a powerful influence over Hollywood filmmaking for well over a decade. Proudly born from a context of movie life rather than real life, Pulp Fiction traces an interweaving network of hard-boiled, pop culture-savvy criminal types—two hitmen (John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson), a boxer on the lam (Bruce Willis), a pair of thrill-junkie stick-up artists (Tim Roth and Amanda Plummer), a mob wife with an Anna Karina wig (Uma Thurman, paying tribute to Godard's Vivre sa vie) and many more—across three time-shifting narrative lines encompassing disco dance-offs, katana bloodbaths and shootouts interspersed with apocryphal biblical verses. Maintaining its verve and freshness even after scores of witless knock-offs, Pulp Fiction remains as refreshingly invigorating as an adrenaline shot to the heart.
