official description

"Everything that matters in cinema since 1940 has been influenced by Citizen Kane."—François Truffaut

Orson Welles' legendary debut feature remains one of the most famous and influential movies ever made, regularly topping polls of the best films of all time. Welles stars as Charles Foster Kane, media magnate, man of the world and would-be politician, whose enigmatic deathbed utterance—"Rosebud"—sets an inquisitive journalist off on a journey into this American titan's labyrinthine past. Given carte blanche by the studio, Welles, co-screenwriter Herman Mankiewicz and master cinematographer Gregg Toland set out to break all the rules of Hollywood filmmaking, revolutionizing cinematic storytelling with an intricate flashback structure and pushing the boundaries of visual style with a dazzling use of deep-focus cinematography, agile camerawork, and a striking combination of special effects and documentary-like authenticity.

Exclusive Engagement begins Thursday, September 23.
