Presented during the Toronto International Film Festival®, the Canadian Film and Television Production Association (CFTPA) Producer's Award acknowledges the vision and entrepreneurship of an independent Canadian producer with a Canadian feature at the Festival.
In 2007, Niv Fichman (Rhombus Media) was awarded the CFTPA Producer's Award and the accompanying $10,000 cash prize. He returns in 2008, to chair the national jury who will select this year's recipient. He is joined by Barbara Doran (Morag Loves Company), Patricia Rozema (Vos Productions), Carole Vivier (CEO of Manitoba Film and Sound) and Blake Corbet (Anagram Pictures).
This year, over thirty producers were eligible to receive the award. The jury has narrowed the list to five nominees.
The Nominees for the 2008 CFTPA Producer's Award:

- David Hamilton (Heaven on Earth)
- Jennifer Jonas (Toronto Stories)
- Barbara Shrier (Un Été sans point ni coup sûr)
- Rob Merilees (Stone of Destiny)
The 2008 CFTPA Producer's Award presentation is Thursday, September 4, at 4pm at the Match Club (1033 Bay Street). The presentation is open to all Sales & Industry Office pass holders.
