The
Toronto International Film Festival gratefully acknowledges the
continuing support of the public sector, whose contributions allow us
to stimulate a more successful Canadian film culture and industry, and
promote the widest possible enjoyment of Canadian cinema throughout the
regions of Canada and the world.
Federal
For the past 40 years, Telefilm Canada
has been an essential federal cultural agency dedicated to the
development and promotion of the Canadian audiovisual industry. Their
support of this year’s Festival allows us to effectively promote and
celebrate Canadian film, as well as offer industrial professional
development programmes for Canadian filmmakers. Visit our Industry Initiatives page for more information on this year’s Telefilm Canada Pitch This! and News & Views panel discussion sessions.
Telefilm
is also a cultural investor in cinema, television and new media. This
year’s Canadian film selection will include a number of films that were
made possible with Telefilm’s financial participation. Check back here
for more updates!
Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) works
to achieve increased economic and enhanced security for Canadians at
home and abroad. With their assistance, TIFF is able to invite foreign
buyers for the purpose of promoting Canadian films to an international
market. DFAIT is also an important partner in this year’s Canadian Music Café.
Canadian Heritageworks
with partners across the country to promote culture, the arts,
heritage, official languages, citizenship and participation,
multiculturalism, Aboriginal, youth, and sport initiatives. They
support the Festival through Telefilm Canada, and assist with
professional development and networking opportunities that prepare
Canadian filmmakers for the international market through the Trade Routes Contribution Program.
Human Resources and Social Development Canada’s (HRSDC) mission
is to build a stronger and more competitive Canada, to support
Canadians in making choices that help them live productive and
rewarding lives, and to improve Canadians’ quality of life. HRSDC
offers employment subsidies that allow us to hire students over the
summer as we prepare for TIFF.
Provincial
Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC),
an agency of the Ministry of Culture, is the central catalyst for the
province’s cultural media cluster including book publishing, film and
television, interactive digital media, magazine publishing and music
industries. OMDC’s supports the Festival to showcase our province’s
incredible filmmaking industry, and offer professional development
opportunities for Ontario filmmakers. For more information on the
OMDC’s Independent Film Financing forum, please visit the Industry Initiatives webpage.
The Ministry of Ontario Tourism supports
delivery of high quality tourism and recreation experiences to
Ontarians and visitors to Ontario, and works to make our province a
year-round world-class travel destination. The Ministry helps us to Celebrate Ontario and our over 3,000 festivals and fairs for every season and every reason.
The Ontario Arts Council
(OAC) is an arm's-length agency of Ontario’s Ministry of Culture that
offers grants and services to professional, Ontario-based artists and
arts organizations to support the arts in all its forms. Their support
of TIFF helps build Ontario’s film industry and culture, and exhibit
new and alternative forms of cinema that raise the profile of the arts
in the province.
Municipal
The Toronto Arts Council (TAC)
supports the development, accessibility, and excellence of the arts in
Toronto by offering grant programs to the city’s arts organizations and
professional artists. As a long-time friend of the Festival, TAC
supports our goal of servicing the city’s artistic community and
meeting the cultural needs of Toronto’s diverse population.
The City of Toronto’s
Economic Development Office helps local business succeed and provides
support to key sectors within the city, including the film industry.
The City is a presenting partner for the Toronto-City Award for Best
Canadian Feature Film and also supports our efforts to make Toronto an internationally-recognized business destination for the production, distribution, and promotion of film.
